Runic compass or Vegvizir (Vikings). Vegvizir or Runic compass is a combination of runic symbols. Vegvizir was not a real physical compass - the Vikings were perfectly oriented by the stars in the night sky. The term "Vegvizir" literally means "That which shows the way". It was first used as an amulet to protect against misfortunes during travel. The symbol means guidance, direction, stability and the ability to return.
