Runic compass (Viking Vegvizir)

Runic compass or Vegvizir (Vikings). Vegvizir or Runic compass is a combination of runic symbols. Vegvizir was not a real physical compass - the Vikings were perfectly oriented by the stars in the night sky. The term "Vegvizir" literally means "That which shows the way". It was first used as an amulet to protect against misfortunes during travel. The symbol means guidance, direction, stability and the ability to return. This is a very strong protective amulet for the Vikings. According to ancient legends, the Vikings carved Vegvizir on the sides of their ships, and it was this amulet that helped them not to go astray. The main meaning of this mystical compass was that Vegvizir itself does not protect against bad weather, but gives a person the strength to withstand all trials and overcome all difficulties.
