No less famous is the legend of Saint Dunstan, who, according to ancient legend, was a great blacksmith. One day the devil himself came to his forge, demanding that his hooves be forged. However, the clever blacksmith chained the devil to the wall and began to beat him. The devil could not stand it and asked to let him go. The blacksmith agreed, but only in exchange for a promise never to cross the threshold of a house over which a horseshoe hangs and not to approach the owner of the horseshoe under any circumstances.
